LOODS

LOODS is a design project based on an existing shack in Hoge Rielen, Kasterlee, Belgium. The aim is to transform the empty space into a camp retreat where children can enjoy the surrounding nature and take part in the various activities offered by the nature reserve.
The design places a strong emphasis on inclusive design, ensuring the entire space is wheelchair accessible. It also incorporates multifunctional furniture and quiet areas for those who need a calm and restorative environment.
Waiting room

Waitingroom is a project aimed at making hospital waiting areas more comfortable and engaging for children. In hospitals, children often have to wait for long periods of time, which can lead to restlessness and understimulation—factors that often result in temper tantrums.
This space features an engaging jungle gym to keep children active and entertained, while also providing quiet, enclosed areas where a child can retreat to calm down if needed. A central seating area is designed for parents, allowing them to supervise their children with ease.
ALFABETEN

This master’s thesis explores the struggles experienced by individuals with dyslexia. The dissertation emerged from a personal experience and evolved into the creation of multiple alphabets. These alphabets provide insight into how a person with dyslexia perceives reading and writing.
The alphabets were primarily created using various techniques involving water — a medium chosen for its inherent unpredictability, which mirrors the uncertainty and challenges dyslexic individuals often face when reading and writing.
Through these works, non-dyslexic viewers are offered a glimpse into the illegibility and confusion that people with dyslexia encounter when engaging with text.
